MATH GIFS 🧮 ROBOTS WITH WOODEN LEGS 🌴 VARIABLE FONTS 💌

Heya,

Time for another issue with a slightly more fun! emphasis. DeepFakes are, by definition, shady but for every incredibly dodgy application of the technology, there is one clip that makes me laugh.

My funnest link of the week is the 3D printed Lambo. You don't have to trade BitCoin to have a Lambo, just an awesome Dad.

Enjoy,

Chris.

The Washington Post’s guide to manipulated video with examples.

Obviously, some awful things are being done with DeepFakes, so this guide is timely. However, and I feel really, really guilty about this, the Mike Tyson "Family Matters" DeepFake is awesome.

🤖 Robots et. al.

Robots made out of branches use Deep Learning to walk, soon they'll be vaping.

If you like the idea of robotic tree branches lurching around the neighborhood, then you will be overjoyed to hear that MIT built a walking motor that will help complex robots self-assemble.

At least this should put an end to the Transformer movies, right?

⚒️ Tools and Resources

Hooked on a forming: Tiny, tiny, tiny form builder made in React. 🎣

I am not sure if I mentioned how tiny it is: less than 4kb. It's tiny! It has no dependencies; it's open-source. It's really, really nice and you can read more here.

I could watch this all day: Inifinite circles infused with 70s geometric design. ⭕

Made with CSS-Doodle which you can use to create your own patterns with CSS. Highly recommended.

Get into a state of flow with this webGL fluid simulation.🥛

The best fluid simulation yet, and I am a fluid aficionado, you can manipulate all of the important elements like diffusion, velocity, pressure. This isn't your parent's fluid simulator.

Outro

An inspirational fatherhood post is a perfect way to wrap things up.

If you have the links, then I have the Twitter account you can sling them towards.

If your friends like to doodle with CSS or dream of interplanetary bench presses, then forward them a copy of this email.

If this is our first time meeting, then, by all means, join the crew so we can see each other next week without all the awkwardness of a third party.

Have a great week,

Chris
