AMAZING, AMAZING, ANIMATIONS 💫 SERIOUSLY, THE ANIMATIONS ARE INCREDIBLE.

Heya,

Can you imagine Walt Disney animating individual grains of sand by hand?

This past week, I found a few different things that show how impossibly good digital versions of reality have become. Soon we won't need it at all anymore.

I also found proof that you can genuinely do anything if you start in Open Source software.

Enjoy,

Chris.

Sous-Pants, this one is for you (not exclusively) and you'll love the ribbon man and the creepy sand but if weird is what you want, then...

You can see, but never unsee, the worm person here.

This website uses a GAN to create realistic portraits from anime faces, paintings, and regular portraits. 😲

With every refresh of the page, you will get a new image that looks like Manet started it but needed to duck out to the bank to pay a bill, so he asked Bosch to "fill in the blanks".

For the most part, the network gets the bulk of the face without an error. Away from the focal point things can get messy.

Big pharma is partnering with Instagram influencers to sell you drugs and medical devices. Ewww.

Forget the white lab coats and stethoscopes. If you want to sell drugs, a private plane and supermodels is a more effective tactic.

Outro

Well, that's all from me this week. Now, I will cram a few more Moby Dick references in, if I may:

I know not all that may be coming, but be it what it will, I'll go to it Tweeting.

If you're like Ishmael, then you might have an everlasting itch for forwarding newsletters. You love to share fascinating reads, and delight in beautiful websites.

Finally, if you received a forward then sign up is a good eleventh commandment; and sleep when you can is a pretty, pretty, pretty good twelfth.

Have a great week,
